How we choose what goes in the house
People ask what “handmade” and “organic” mean at YEY. Here is the honest version, without a speech.
We do not call the whole shop handmade. We do not call every product organic. Those words get used so loosely online that they stop meaning anything. We would rather be exact.
Organic lives on the candle line. That room is named Organic Candles for a reason. If a shirt or a bag is cotton, linen, or whatever the piece actually is, we say that on the product — we do not borrow the candle word to make it sound greener.
Made with care is how the rest of the house is chosen. Small line. Pieces we would put in a real room. Not a factory story we cannot stand behind, and not “handcrafted” stamped on everything in the cart.
When we add something, we ask three things. Can you wear it or live with it more than once? Does it sit next to what is already in the house? Can we describe it without lying?
If the answer is no, it does not go up. That is slower than a drop calendar. It is also why the shop stays readable: apparel, decor, bags, candles. You always know which room you are in.
Later we will write more — care, fabric, how to light a candle without wrecking the table. For now, this is the rule. Choose like a house, not like a feed.
